Cholera is an infection of the small intestine by some strainsofthe bacterium Vibrio cholerae. Symptoms may range from none,tomild, to severe. Risk factors forthedisease include poor sanitation, not enough clean drinkingwater,and poverty.There are concerns that rising sea levels willincreaserates of disease. Cholera can be diagnosed by a stool test.A rapiddipstick test is available but is not as accurate.

Schizophrenia is a psychiatric diagnosis characterized bycontinuousor relapsing episodes of psychosis. Major symptomsincludehallucinations (typically hearing voices), delusions,anddisorganized thinking. Other symptoms include socialwithdrawal,decreased emotional expression, and apathy. Besides observed behavior, doctors willalso takea history that includes the person's reported experiences,andreports of others familiar with the person, when makingadiagnosis. To diagnose someone with schizophrenia, doctorsaresupposed to confirm that symptoms and functional impairmentarepresent for six months (DSM-5) or one month (ICD-11). Manypeoplewith schizophrenia have other mental disorders that oftenincludesan anxiety disorder such as panic disorder, anobsessive–compulsivedisorder, or a substance use disorder.
